The Sentinel Chakra, the Tarot, and the Zodiac
The Kingdom of Discernment and Protection
By Alchemist Iris
If the Navel Chakra asks:
“What belongs to me?”
the Sentinel Chakra asks:
“What may enter?”
This is the kingdom of thresholds.
The kingdom of discernment.
The kingdom of protection.
The kingdom of permission.
Every kingdom requires gates.
Every gate requires a guardian.
Without a gate, there is no kingdom.
Without discernment, there is no sovereignty.
The Sentinel Chakra governs the sacred threshold between the self and the world. It determines what may enter consciousness, what must be refused, and what requires further examination before permission is granted.
Many people think protection is about building walls.
The Sentinel teaches something deeper.
Protection is not isolation.
Protection is discernment.
This is the sacred work of the Sentinel Chakra.
The Sentinel Chakra as a Kingdom
Within the 18-ChakraVerse, every chakra functions as a kingdom with a unique responsibility.
The Sentinel Kingdom governs:
- Discernment
- Protection
- Energetic security
- Contract awareness
- Pattern recognition
- Truth verification
- Intrusion detection
- Threshold management
- Permission
Its central question is:
“What may enter?”
The Earth Star establishes placement.
The Root establishes survival.
The Sacral establishes movement.
The Navel establishes sovereignty.
The Sentinel establishes security.
This kingdom determines:
- what receives access
- what remains outside
- what deserves trust
- what requires scrutiny
- what strengthens the system
- what weakens the system
When aligned, the Sentinel creates clarity and protection.
When fragmented, distortion gains entry.
Philip, Leo, and the Faculty of Discernment
Within the disciple architecture of the 18-ChakraVerse, Philip emerges as the governing disciple of the Sentinel Kingdom.
Philip represents:
- discernment
- testing
- evaluation
- examination
Philip asks:
“Show me.”
He seeks evidence.
Verification.
Clarity.
The Sentinel Kingdom operates in much the same way.
Before something enters the system, it must be examined.
Before authority is granted, it must be verified.
Before trust is extended, it must be earned.
Philip serves as the inspector of the kingdom.
Philip’s zodiac correspondence is Leo.
At first this may seem surprising.
Leo is often associated with leadership.
Yet Leo’s deeper function is illumination.
Leo brings visibility.
Leo reveals.
Leo shines light upon what has been hidden.
The Sentinel Kingdom requires exactly this capacity.
Its purpose is to expose distortion before distortion becomes influence.
Together, Philip and Leo reveal the lesson of the Sentinel Kingdom:
What is illuminated can be discerned.
The Tarot Governors of the Sentinel Kingdom

Signs of an Aligned Sentinel Chakra
When the Sentinel Kingdom is coherent:
- I trust my discernment.
- I recognize unhealthy influences.
- I maintain healthy energetic boundaries.
- I detect manipulation quickly.
- I evaluate before granting access.
- I recognize repeating patterns.
- I protect my peace without isolation.
Signs of a Fragmented Sentinel Chakra
When the Sentinel Kingdom becomes unstable:
- I trust everyone or no one.
- I become easily manipulated.
- I struggle to recognize unhealthy patterns.
- I absorb external influence.
- I react without discernment.
- I become paranoid or hypervigilant.
- I lose confidence in my perception.
The Sentinel Kingdom is not asking us to become suspicious.
It is asking us to become discerning.
There is a difference.
Fear closes every gate.
Wisdom knows which gates to open.
Final Reflection
The Sentinel Chakra teaches a truth that many people learn only after suffering:
Not everything deserves access to your life.
Philip teaches examination.
Leo teaches illumination.
Judgment teaches revelation.
Together they reveal the sacred task of the Sentinel Kingdom:
To protect consciousness through discernment.
The Earth Star asks:
“Where do I belong?”
The Root asks:
“Can I survive?”
The Sacral asks:
“What wants to move through me?”
The Navel asks:
“What belongs to me?”
The Sentinel asks:
“What may enter?”
Only when consciousness learns discernment can it protect what has been built and continue safely toward higher awareness.
